Team Cocktail Flags / Party Picks

Back in 2010, for Super Bowl XLIV, I started a yearly tradition: making simple-but-cute cocktail flags (or stirrers, or party picks... your choice) for each team, and sharing them as downloads with my readers over on the Make Merry! blog. I'll be continuing the festivities here on the Football Foodie, where you'll be able to find all the teams in one place.

I'll also be sharing and linking to photos of them in action at your parties, so give me a holler if you use them!

Directions

These little paper flags can be used at your party in a variety of ways: as drink flags/stirrers, party picks to hold sandwiches together or to skewer mini bites of food, or cupcake/treat flags. They're sized more as drink flags, so you might want to scale them down (you can do this in Acrobat) as needed to keep 'em proportional.

  • Cut bamboo skewers down to your desired size.
  • Print the flags on a lighter weight cardstock (80# worked great).
  • Cut out your flags, making sure to stay within any guidelines so they don't show on the final product - a craft knife and ruler work best.
  • Wrap the cut flag around the skewer and press down a bit so that the cardstock begins to take the shape.
  • Put a few small dabs of glue on the part of the flag that will wrap around the stick, insert the stick and glue the two sides together – line them up perfectly.
  • Let dry and you're good to go!
